The history and heritage of Aviva has been one of progressive steps in the wood industry that shows a long-term commitment to quality and care for wood and the environment. AVIVA was set up in 1999 in Romania and started with flooring and solid wood panels.
Since then we have evolved and developed engineered wood techniques and advanced production solutions and we have come a long way to be at the forefront of the industry
Today we manufacture and deliver one of the highest quality, most modern engineered flooring, furniture and panels/worktops to companies worldwide.
2000 – 2005
Aviva set up a new sawmill and began producing fresh sawn products in Romania, close to Europe’s second largest Oak forest, supplying solid wood components for flooring and furniture to companies worldwide. With more than 2 million square meters of flooring sold, we started to make kitchen worktops to compliment the flooring production.
2005 – 2010
We started kiln drying, manufacturing solid wood panels and delivery of cut to size solid wood components. We began to manufacture and stock our own engineered wood flooring to satisfy the high specification required for under floor heating. Bio fuel was beginning to be used to kiln dry 100 of our products as we reached 0 waste from wood production. Exports of bio fuels grew to include Germany, Hungary, and Italy.
2005 – 2010

2010 – 2015
Our factory in Romania, AVIVA had become Europe’s largest producer of solid Oak kitchen worktops. We switched the plywood used in our engineered floors from Beech to Birch, which is a more stable and robust species. With investment in new machinery, we could produce a higher quality and more precisely manufactured product. Aviva also became the world’s 1st high volume factory dedicated to engineered kitchen worktops. The key element of flooring, which are the tongues and grooves, are now produced to the highest European standard using diamond tooling.
2015 – 2020
Started developing kitchen and dining furniture using engineered wood. The introduction of formaldehyde free PUR adhesives vastly improved the bonding of the top layer to the plywood in the manufacturing of our engineered products. We became the largest importers of Walnut in Europe with worktops, furniture, and flooring exported to all corners of the globe. All our materials come from sustainable sources, with FSC and other fully accredited certifications available for all wood products. Huge investments in the Romanian factory continued to improve the yields with thin cutting technology, using the thinnest saw blades in the world.
2015 – 2020

2020`s
We launched a new product range which made efficient use of wood on an industrial scale never seen before. Research and development of thin cutting techniques helped to increase the yield and therefore use less wood from the forest. Invested more in development of innovative new expressions of thick veneer.
